Art's First Cooking Lesson

Art didn't bake any cookies since he ate all of the dough off of the spatula.

(No babies were harmed in the making of this video. Seriously, the spatula was cleaned and sterilized before he got it...)

Just Us

Art's doing well. We are still enjoying ourselves at home. For the last few weeks he has been sleeping through the night but the last weekend he woke up in the middle of the night and has been doing so since. We are blaming it on the 3 month growth spurt (hopefully!). He talks to me now so on Sunday at church, he cooed loudly when I looked at him. Brian and I couldn't keep from laughing.

He still doesn't take a pacifier and hasn't found his thumb again. He does suck his hands for comfort though. He has starting kicking his legs vigorously and moving his arms around. He plays well under the baby gym and grabs stuff. Also, when he lays in his carseat with a blanket or burp cloth over him, he grabs it and holds it like a blankie.

He has lost almost all of his hair. He's hanging onto a few up top (which we like to call the landing strip) and the ones on the back of his head. You can see all of it growing back in. We aren't sure how big he is and won't really know until his 4 month appointment. We think he is about 12 pounds now.

Office Thanksgiving

Today we celebrated Thanksgiving with Brian's office. Families were invited as well so we were excited to be adopted by a new office. There were a few babies this year and we got a good picture of all of them together. Art is the youngest one of the bunch in 2009.

Blue Ridge Mountain

This weekend we celebrated Aunt Dana's birthday at a cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It was nice to get out of the city but Art didn't like the new location. He slept terribly.

Art's First Football Game

We decided to go to the Wake Forest game this weekend and bring Art to his first game. Tailgating was enjoyable and we headed to the game after his afternoon snack. Art wanted nothing to do with football. He was sleepy and the stadium was too loud after plays. Since I was more worried about the little guy, we left and watched from our tailgate (which has a rockin' flat screen and good company from Kirby, who was actually trying to study). I'm not sure when Art will go to his first full home game!

At the tailgate after we left the stadium. The TV is in the background.

I had the best seats in the house with this smiley guy!

Life or Something Like It

We'll be celebrating his 3 month birthday on Friday (no, not really). It has been quite different than I expected, but Brian and I are getting the hang of things and understanding how the days work. I don't understand why people say that parenting will come naturally! That was a culture shock!
I put in my notice at work and collected all of my belongings so I have promoted myself to a domestic engineer. I look forward to hanging out with Art each day and exploring new activities as he grows. I have tried contacting a few local stay at home mom organizations, but no one has sent any info back! Who would have thought they'd be so exclusive! I guess I need to find out the secret handshake...
He naps very well during the day and has been sleeping through the night for a week now! He used to sleep until 8 AM, but daylight savings really screwed us up! I am not fortunate enough to gain the extra hour of sleep anymore.
Here are a few of my favorite pictures that I wanted to share.

I call the one below "Tiny Brian."

We have figured out a sleep schedule and Brian has been very helpful so I am still able to do some things around the house. I recently made curtains and a bedskirt for his room (all by myself!!). We reorganized a bit as well. Check out the photos. His Fairy Godparents gave him the beautiful monogram.

Halloween

Here it is! Art was a dog for Halloween. (We didn't uphold the other part and dress the dog as a baby because it was hard enough coordinating his costume.) We went to a party last weekend dressed up as the Peanuts gang. Brian is actually wearing a Charlie Brown Tee, I am dressed poorly as Lucy, and Art was Snoopy! (Somehow we didn't get a picture of Art alone!)

On the actual date, we hung out with Chris, Dana, and Rowan at their house. We were supposed to go to a neighborhood party, but hence all the rain, we stayed in. Rowan went trick or treating, but Art didn't get to go show off his costume. (He was busy eating...)

Big Pumpkin 5K

Brian and I signed up to run the Big Pumpkin 5K in Roswell, GA on Saturday. I figured if we are going to run long races soon, we need to get motivated and do shorter runs here and there. Art was ready to ride and celebrate Halloween. Unfortunately we are having the opposite of a drought now and there was a downpour before the race. Brian was nice enough to hang out with Art in the car while I ran.

The stroller has helped me gain some muscle back. I was able to run the race in about 25 minutes with 3 weeks of limited training! We are looking forward to the next one!

Off Beat Thursday

Last Thursday, Art and I went to watch cousin Rowan for the day. There was only an hour or so period where they were both awake so it wasn't too difficult to manage. It was quite entertaining to hang out with a 16 month old! She likes to climb on everything and take things out of the diaper bag.
