Teaching the Dog New Tricks

Being trapped inside during cold weather makes you do crazy things.

I don't know if it is comforting for him to sit in there or he just likes to drive the dog crazy, but we'll usually find toys in there. Maybe he just wants a playmate...

Two New Favorites

Oreos and the Redskins!

He loves the Redskins book that he got for Christmas.  It tells you all about the history of the Redskins and gives some instructions on how to play football.  He can now say football and touchdown and make a quarterback throwing motion with his hands.

The first time we gave him oreos, he knew that he wanted to dunk them in milk.  He also separated them and ate the two separate pieces.

Ed Grimley

A good bathtime pic for you!

He gets really excited when you tell him it is bath time. I hope this continues when he gets older.

My Little Genius

We went a little crazy during the snow days, but Art learned a thing or two.

Not sure where this came from, but he knew to use the yardstick to turn the light on.

My Running Buddy

Brian and I are training for a marathon in March so I have to get outside during the freezing cold weather to get some jogging in.  Luckily, Arthur loves sitting in the stroller as shown below!  He adds some resistance, but I don't complain because I can get some exercise during the day.  I freeze a little, but enjoy getting out there and I have to if I am going to finish 26.2 miles in 8 weeks.

In addition to this comfy blanket (or Bundle Me), he gets covered by an all weather shield for the stroller.  It has to be nice and toasty in there.

His Attempt at Walking in the Snow

Arthur LOVED the snow.  You can see this toward the end of the video when he shook his head "no" when I asked him if he wanted to go inside. He enjoyed walking around and loved being outdoors.

Snow Bunny

If you have been living under a rock, Atlanta got quite a bit of snow two weeks ago. (If you notice in earlier posts, I have been busy so I am a little behind!)

We don't have tons of snow gear, but we do have these buntings for when we go outside in the cold weather.  The tennis shoes will suffice for 5 minutes in the snow.

He loved walking around.  There had to be about 6 inches on the ground that was then covered in ice. He usually sank and fell on occasion.

I knew there weren't a ton of cars on the road so walking in the street was ok.  It seemed to be safer anyways!

Mr. Claus in Training

He loves yogurt and he loves feeding himself. You can see he is a little messy.

Introducing, Shayla!

In addition to the contract position, I started watching a friend's baby one day each week.  Shayla was born in October 2010 so I have my hands full with a 17 month old and  a 3 month old!

Arthur has his bouts of jealousy, but they don't last long at all.  He is really sweet with her.  The other day, I told him to hold her hand and he did! She moves quite a bit so it didn't last long. I get to enjoy a small baby again without being exhausted from lack of sleep!

Oh yeah, another fun story for you.  My first day on the job Art played with my cell phone.  It was locked, but he still managed to call 911.  I thought I caught it in time and hung up while it was dialing, but they called me back and said, "Did your child just call us?" I quickly apologized.  Fantastic...

2011 is a New Year

I have been SUPER busy over the past few weeks and you have probably noticed due to the lack of posts. I have a couple of things going on. In December, I started working a contract job with this guy that started his own fundraising company.  I do the odds and ends that he could push aside to focus his time on more important things.  He doesn't have an office so I am able to do everything from the comfort of my own home and at my own hours. It has been interesting so far, but it is nice to think about other things during the day.

A true Redskins fan.

Udvar Hazy Air and Space Museum

We took Arthur to the Udvar Hazy Air and Space Museum up in DC.  This is the second one that is near the Washington-Dulles Airport.  The original one is near the DC mall.  I like this one better because it is wide open and is in a hangar.
Art LOVED looking at all of the planes.

He pointed at them and was in awe by their size.

Here's a look at the hangar.  The Enola Gay and the Concorde are both at this museum.

An SR-71 - This is Brian's favorite plane!

Art was more excited about driving the golf cart.  He cried when we took him out and wanted to go back.

The name on this pack says "Arthur Manning."

Christmas in VA, Part II

At the furniture store, Art loved hanging on this lifelike dog statue.

He even kissed him.

A family Christmas party with the O'Connors.  Brian failed to tell me it was supposed to be a tacky Christmas party.

Art got to wear Papa John's candy bow tie.

Christmas in Virginia

IT was so nice to be surrounded by family at Christmas.  We had a fantastic time!

We got to see my Aunt Diane and cousin Deana in Ellicot City, MD. We're at Turf Valley visiting for a bit before lunch.

He found his pocket!

Grandma Sherry pulled out Reilly's old toys and shared them with Arthur.

Brian is on the computer.  This is my photo journalistic shot.

Daddy taught him how to hold the bells so they would ring properly.

Giving Daddy a kiss.

Christmas Day!

He loved Christmas and opening all of his presents.  He wanted everything out of the box as soon as it was opened. He already knew how to throw clothing aside when he opened that as his present!

He traded bare feet for bear feet!

Another "lol-pop" from his stocking!

First Official Haircut - Da, Da Da Da!

Well, I did his first haircut, but I was only able to trim the sides, front, and around his ears.  I needed to learn how to do his entire head from the professionals.  I would love to let him have a shaggy hairdo, but his hair is too fine so it would look funny.

He did a fantastic job and this is what he looked like the entire time.  I thought he would squirm, but he was perfect!

He got a "lol-pop" for being a good boy! He even said it, too!
